Minister Johnson responds to local organization on relief proposal for civil servants | SOUALIGA NEWSDAY

SINT MAARTEN (POND ISLAND) – The Honorable Stuart Johnson has issued a statement in response to comments made by a local organization regarding his call for Civil Servants to get much needed relief.

“While I do not give a platform to empty vessels, I will say that relief must come for all the people, but we have to start somewhere. Therefore, while others will use my statement as a talking point, I have arrived at a starting point.

“Everyone should get relief, and it is never a bad thing when you can look within your own home or organization and first fix the people there before being critical of others. Leadership, by example, means that one must also respect other people’s right to their opinion.

“I firmly believe we should be taking care of those who work to shape policy and society as Civil Servants, so they can be motivated to develop strategies that bring relief for the masses.”
