SINT MAARTEN (PHILIPSBURG) – On Monday April 29th at approximately 2.00 a.m. police patrols, Detectives, Forensic Investigators and Fire Department were dispatched to A&A Fashions located close to Kadaster Office on Back Street where an explosion was reported and that the store was on fire.

The Fire Department immediately went work on extinguishing the fire making sure the fire did not spread to the other stores in the area or to the apartments on the first floor. The area was immediately cordoned off by police officers on the scene.

According to report the couples that own the store have been having serious communication problems lately which may have escalated causing the male owner to set the store on fire. This suspect in this case has not yet been located or arrested.

It is still unclear what happened, and Detectives are speaking to potential witnesses while Forensic Investigators collect evidence on the scene. (Sint Maarten Police Force)
