PHILIPSBURG:— Minister of Education, Honorable Wycliffe Smith greeted the group of students bound for the Netherlands where they will be pursuing their tertiary level education. The minister had just arrived on his return flight from a regional conference in Bolivia when he went directly to meet with the group. Joining them in the Departure Lounge at the Princess Juliana International Airport, Minister Smith offered them words of encouragement and wisdom as they were about to embark on a new journey towards their careers. The group was being accompanied by a Senior Study Financing Officer on flight.
According to the Division Study Financing, 122 applications for Study Financing were approved for grants, of which 41 students would be studying in the Netherlands. Thirty-three of these Holland-bound students travelled as a group on Friday. Upon arriving in the Netherlands, they will be guided through an Orientation week of activities to have them registered and settled in the country and acquainted with their city of study. This orientation is a collaborative effort of the Division Study Financing and the Unified St. Maarten Connection. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth, and Sports wishes all students much success, and will continue to work in support of them and their future here on Sint Maarten.
