PHILIPSBURG:— On Sunday, the 23rd of July 2017, in the early morning hours, an elderly lady was assaulted at her home in Middle Region. The Police Department is requesting witnesses and/or anyone who have seen anyone, going or leaving the home, and or who have heard anything to please get in contact with Youth and Morals department. Armed Robbery Star Mart Texaco Bush Road
Monday, August the 7th in the early morning hours around 06:30 am, an armed robbery took place at the Star Mart Texaco at Bush Road. Two armed robbers with masks went into the Star Mart and threatened the personnel to hand over cash. An undisclosed amount of money was taken and after they committed the crime they escaped on foot in an unknown direction. The detectives of the Special Unit Armed Robberies are asking the public for assistance and eye witnesses to come forward with information about the robbery. Arrest of a minor in connection with an ongoing investigation
In connection with an ongoing investigation, conducted by the Youth a Moral Department, the minor T.H., 15 years old was arrested on August the 5th 2017. This investigation regards a fight that took place on the 17th of April 2017, during the “Opening Carnival Jump-up”, whereby one person received stab wounds. T.H. was arrested on request of the prosecutor and questioned. He remained in custody pending further investigation.
Serious ill treatment Sucker Garden
The central dispatch center got a call on Sunday, the 6th of August, around 10.30 pm, about an ill treatment incident in Sucker Garden. The Patrol was immediately sent over and noticed one man unconscious on the ground with serious head injuries. The victim was treated at the scene by the ambulance personnel and immediately brought to the Sint Maarten Medical Center for further treatment. Another man with initials B.R. (46 years old) approached the officers and told them that he is the one who hit the victim with a shovel on his head. The suspect was taken into custody where he is still locked up for further investigation. The victim N.M. (70 years old) is hospitalized at the Intensive Care Unit in critical, but stable condition.
