PHILIPSBURG:— Ministry of General Affairs, Department of The Interior, and Kingdom Relations (BAK) kick off a week of key events. The week starts with the Strategic Steering Committee of the RESEMBID program from June 17th – 18th, 2024. Managed by the department of BAK as the office of the Authorizing Officer, the Resilience, Sustainable Energy, and Marine Biodiversity (RESEMBID) Programme manages a 47-project portfolio funded by the European Union and implemented by Expertise France – the development cooperation agency of the Government of France and supports sustainable human development efforts in 12 Caribbean Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) – Aruba, Anguilla, Bonaire, British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Curaçao, Montserrat, Saba, Sint Eustatius, Saint Barthélemy, Sint Maarten and Turks and Caicos. It is for the first that the RESEMBID Strategic Steering Committee will take place in person. Hosted by St. Maarten, focal points from Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) will be in attendance to review the progress of the program, review the various projects, and share experiences.
On June 19th and 20th, 2024 the Fostering Resilience Crisis Management (FRCM) Regional Conference will take place. With several disaster coordinators from neighboring islands in attendance, along with the National Disaster Coordinator of St. Maarten and the Emergency Support Functions, the FRCM conference focusses on Disaster Risk Management (DRM) by bringing the DRM network together. Furthermore, the conference aims to advance understanding and discussions through a cross section of society, such as Government, the NGO sector, Education, Environmentalists, and the Private sector.
Closing off the week, on June 21st, 2024 OCT round-table will take place to discuss upcoming programming of the Multi-Annual Indicative Program (MIP) as well as implementing partner. This session is solely for the focal points of the EU OCTs, along with representatives of the EU and the department of BAK.
