PHILIPSBURG:--- When the Windward Island Bank learned about the ‘Shoot Hoops, Not Guns’ project, the bank immediately showed its support to the project. This support materialized when the Windward Island Bank acquired one of the partnership packages of the project, namely the purchase of one hundred t-shirts with the ‘Shoot Hoops, Not Guns’ logo printed in the front.
‘Shoot Hoops, Not Guns’ committee member and President of Island Hoops Foundation, Paul Bell expressed his gratitude for the participation and emphasized that it is because of good corporate citizens like the Windward Island Bank that the project can take place.
The ‘Shoot Hoops, Not Guns’ project aims to curb violence and bring awareness to the communities on the strength of a community and what can be accomplished when a community comes together. The awareness of the project is created via spreading t-shirts with the ‘Shoot Hoops, Not Guns’ logo throughout the community, while community building activities are held in ten different districts on the Dutch side of the island, one district per month, and the month of community building activities concludes with a 3-on-3 basketball tournament. Interested persons who want to volunteer in the project or entities that would like to assist in any way can contact the ‘Shoot Hoops, Not Guns’ committee via e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots.
