On June 30, 2023, the Prefecture was led to pronounce the definitive closure of the private establishment outside the contract called "René Descartes college" located in Hope Estate.
Following a control by the academy inspection carried out on January 17, 2023, the private establishment "Collège René Descartes" was the subject of a first formal notice from the rector of the academic region on February 6. 2023. This pointed to malfunctions and requested the transmission of documents allowing the structure to comply with the regulations.
No information having been transmitted by the management of the establishment, a new inspection aimed at verifying compliance with the information requested by the inspectors during their visit on January 17, 2023 was carried out on April 19, 2023.
The findings confirmed the lack of change in the situation and the lack of consideration of the formal notice of February.
A letter from the prefect was sent to the director of the establishment on May 23, inviting her to share her observations on the shortcomings observed. In particular, several teachers were not authorized to teach in the absence of an adequate diploma. The management of the establishment only responded to certain points of administrative management.
Consequently, due to the shortcomings observed and the lack of regularization, the Prefect was led to pronounce the definitive closure of the private establishment outside the contract called "René Descartes college" on June 30, 2023.
In anticipation of the start of the school year in September 2023, the Rectorate's services are currently working to put in place solutions that will make it possible to accommodate all students.
