PHILIPSBURG:— The sea turtle nesting season of 2019 showed the presence of all three nesting species on our beaches; leatherback, green and hawksbill nets were found, however, their beach habitat and survival are severely threatened on St. Maarten. Sea turtle nests were recorded on Gibbs Bay, Mullet Bay, Dawn Beach, Simpson Bay and Guana Bay Beach, showing a slight increase compared to recorded nests the last three years, however, numbers of nests per season are worrisome and much lower than ten years ago.
